If the idea of $5 a gallon scares you, stay out of Alaska. Detroit Free Press reports the 49th
state has some of the most expensive gas in the country, with some
areas charging more than $6 a gallon. Based on info from a
gas-price-tracking site, Detroit Free Press says Alaska is ranked second-highest in gas prices, behind Hawaii and ahead of California.
Despite being one of the country’s largest oil-producing states,
Alaska has four gas stations charging more than $6 a gallon. All of them
are in Bethel, Ala., a town located near Alaska’s west coast. According
to Detroit Free Press, the state’s most expensive gas stations
are charging between $6.13 and $6.33 a gallon. After that, however, the
next most expensive station in Cordova charges $4.79 a gallon.
